Baldur's Gate Commander Deck: Draconic Dissent
Baldur's Gate Commander Deck: Draconic Dissent
Free pickup in Maastricht, by appointment. How it works
A true Dragon doesn't need to fight every war itself. Sometimes it's much more fun to let the rest of the table start them. The Draconic Dissent Commander Deck combines Dragons with goad and turns a normal Commander table into a battle where almost no one can sit still.
Firkraag, Cunning Instigator sends his Dragons toward your opponents while simultaneously forcing their creatures to attack each other. Each time a creature deals combat damage while it was forced to attack, Firkraag grows and you draw a card. You are creating chaos — but you are trying to ensure that you are the one who ultimately profits from it the most.
Why choose Draconic Dissent?
- Dragons and political chaos: Instead of just dropping big flyers, the deck uses Dragons to send other players' creatures into combat.
- Firkraag goads during attacks: When one or more Dragons attack an opponent, you can goad a creature of that player.
- Chaos becomes card advantage: If a creature deals combat damage while it was forced to attack this combat, Firkraag gets a +1/+1 counter and you draw a card.
- Many ways to force combat: Disrupt Decorum, Geode Rager, Goblin Spymaster, Vengeful Ancestor, and Bothersome Quasit keep the table in motion.
- Dragons remain true finishers: Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, Astral Dragon, Steel Hellkite, Ryusei, and Keiga give the deck plenty of brute force.
- Very Commander-specific: Goad gets stronger the more opponents there are at the table, making it the quintessential multiplayer mechanic.
Start a war you don't take part in
Mechanics like goad are designed to be interesting specifically in multiplayer. In our Commander guide, you can read about how a normal Commander game and the multiplayer dynamic work. Read Commander (EDH) explained →
