Legends, Backgrounds, foil-etched cards, and Dungeons & Dragons loot in almost every slot. The Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate Set Booster Box contains 18 Set Boosters that are fully built around the fun of opening packs and finding new cards for Commander.

Every booster contains 15 Magic cards, including a foil-etched legendary creature or Background, a traditional foil, dedicated legendary slots, a Rulebook-treatment card, and two wildcards. This makes a Baldur's Gate Set Booster significantly fuller with Commander-focused cards than a regular booster.

Dungeons & Dragons meets Commander Legends

Battle for Baldur's Gate brings Magic back to the Forgotten Realms, but this time entirely through the lens of Commander. Well-known D&D characters, dragons, gods, monsters, and spells are combined with a set built heavily around legendary creatures and multiplayer synergy.

Including Minsc & Boo, Karlach, Tasha, and various well-known D&D creatures appear as Magic cards, while mechanics such as Backgrounds and the initiative directly refer to building and experiencing a Dungeons & Dragons character.

Made for opening, not for drafting

Set Boosters are structured differently than Draft Boosters. Whereas Draft Boosters are specifically designed for Commander Draft, Set Boosters are meant for players who primarily want to open packs and collect cards.

As a result, these packs contain more variable slots, more special card versions, and more opportunities to find multiple rares or mythics in the same booster.

Foil-etched legends in every pack

Each Set Booster contains a foil-etched legendary creature or legendary Background. Approximately one in three foil-etched cards in this slot is rare or mythic rare.

In addition, every booster contains a separate legendary creature or planeswalker slot and a dedicated legendary Background slot. This makes legendary cards a standard part of almost every opening.

Backgrounds — build your own Commander

Backgrounds are legendary enchantments that represent your commander's story. Some legendary creatures have Choose a Background, allowing you to begin the game with both that creature and a Background in the command zone.

The combined color identity of both cards then determines which colors you may use in your Commander Deck. This allows you to build different commander and Background combinations from the same set.

Take the Initiative & Undercity

Battle for Baldur's Gate also introduces the initiative. When you take the initiative, you venture into the new Undercity dungeon. If you keep the initiative, you move another room forward at the start of your next upkeep.

Other players can take the initiative by dealing combat damage to you, which means this mechanic can frequently change hands, especially in multiplayer Commander games.

Rulebook & Borderless treatments

Each Set Booster contains a common or uncommon with the Rulebook treatment: a card style that visually refers to classic Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks.

In addition, Set Boosters can contain borderless versions of, among others, Planeswalkers, Dragons, and other selected rares and mythics. These special treatments can also appear as traditional foils.

What is in one Set Booster?

The booster thus contains 15 playable Magic cards, plus the Art Card and the separate token/insert slot.

The List

In the final slot of a Set Booster, instead of a token or ad card, a card from The List may appear. The List consists of reprints from various periods of Magic's history that return in their original style.
