Duskmourn Commander Deck: Death Toll
Free pickup in Maastricht, by appointment. How it works
In Duskmourn, nothing stays truly dead. Some things are just waiting for Winter to need them again. The Death Toll Commander Deck intentionally fills your graveyard with creatures, lands, artifacts, enchantments, planeswalkers, and other card types—after which you pull the best permanent threats back out from the rubble.
Winter, Cynical Opportunist mills three cards every time he attacks and rewards you for delirium: four or more different card types in your graveyard. At the end of your turn, you can then exile cards from that graveyard that together represent at least four card types and put one permanent from that selection directly onto the battlefield. In Death Toll, your graveyard isn't a dump—it's a pantry.
Why choose Death Toll?
- Intentionally fill your graveyard: Stitcher's Supplier, Mulch, Grisly Salvage, Grapple with the Past, Old Stickfingers, and Winter himself help your graveyard grow quickly.
- Delirium rewards different card types: Creature, land, artifact, enchantment, planeswalker, instant, and sorcery all contribute to achieving four different types.
- Winter turns your graveyard into reanimation: As soon as your end-step ability meets the requirements, you can put a permanent card from the chosen group directly onto the battlefield.
- Big threats without having to cast them fairly: Moldgraf Monstrosity, Hornet Queen, Giant Adephage, Noxious Gearhulk, and Demolisher Spawn are particularly fine targets to bring back.
- Multiple card types everywhere: Artifact creatures, enchantment Rooms, planeswalkers, and even Dryad Arbor help give your graveyard a varied collection of card types.
- 10 new Magic cards: The new Death Toll cards build further around delirium, graveyard value, and permanents with multiple types.
Everything decays. That is exactly the point.
Death Toll is a great introduction to graveyard strategies, but delirium requires you to pay close attention to card types and what is in your graveyard. Read our Commander beginner's guide first →
