Lorwyn Eclipsed Theme Deck: Pirates

Attack early, discard at the right moment, and turn every discarded card into a new advantage. The Lorwyn Eclipsed Theme Deck: Pirates is a complete 60-card blue-red deck in which Pirates, Vehicles, and discard synergies work together to create a fast and active playstyle.

Marauding Mako and Scrounging Skyray form the core of the strategy and become more dangerous whenever you discard cards. Inti, Seneschal of the Sun and Captain Howler, Sea Scourge ensure that those discards provide new opportunities and explosive turns.

How does the Pirates Theme Deck play?

• Make discard part of your plan – multiple cards become stronger when you discard cards from your hand.
• Apply early pressure – Marauding Mako and Spyglass Siren provide active opening turns.
• Let your threats grow – Marauding Mako and Scrounging Skyray can become increasingly dangerous as your discard engine runs.
• Combine Pirates and Vehicles – Subterranean Schooner and Magmatic Galleon give the deck an extra offensive dimension.
• Clear the path – Burst Lightning, Spell Snare, and Broadside Barrage help you disrupt your opponent's key plans.

Discard without simply throwing away card advantage

In Pirates, discarding a card is not simply a disadvantage. Inti, Seneschal of the Sun, for example, works exceptionally well with Marauding Mako: you activate your discard synergy and simultaneously gain access to a new card.

As a result, there is more choice in the deck than just attacking as quickly as possible. You have to decide which cards you can afford to lose, when you want to trigger a discard effect, and which creatures you should leave on the board for another turn so they can continue to grow.

Who is Pirates suitable for?

Pirates is well-suited for players who enjoy attacking, tempo, and synergy between multiple cards. The deck is ready to play immediately, but also offers two clear directions for future upgrades: doubling down on "discard-matters" or focusing more on Pirates as a creature type.

Furthermore, Angels and Pirates have been intentionally designed as Theme Decks that play well against each other. With both decks, you immediately have two different 60-card strategies for an accessible matchup.
