The Brothers' War Commander Deck: Mishra's Burnished Banner
The Brothers' War Commander Deck: Mishra's Burnished Banner
Free pickup in Maastricht, by appointment. How it works
Where Urza builds, Mishra consumes. Mishra's Burnished Banner is the blue-black-red Commander deck from The Brothers' War and the mirror version of his brother's deck: instead of stockpiling and reinforcing artifacts, you discard them for value and get more out of them than they are worth.
Fully retro frame
Every card in this deck features the classic card frame from the nineties, right down to the basic lands. This makes it not only ready to play, but also an attractive deck for those who enjoy collecting classic designs.
The strategy revolves around sacrificing, copying, and reusing artifacts. Mishra, Eminent One copies an artifact you control whenever you attack, and that copy becomes a 4/4 artifact creature. Everything you sacrifice returns twofold, and a cheap artifact thus becomes a threat.

How does Mishra's Burnished Banner play?
- Artifacts as consumables — Ichor Wellspring, Servo Schematic, and Prophetic Prism provide card draw exactly when they leave the battlefield.
- Sacrifice engines — Oni-Cult Anvil, Trading Post, and Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer turn every excess artifact into a source of value or damage.
- Copying and multiplying — Mirrorworks, Lithoform Engine, Strionic Resonator, and Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer enhance everything you are already doing.
- Retrieving what is lost — Emry, Lurker of the Loch and Silas Renn fetch artifacts back from your graveyard, allowing you to use the same card multiple times.
- Grixis provides reach — Blasphemous Act, Chaos Warp, Bedevil, and Feed the Swarm ensure you can also deal with others' threats.
Two commanders, two paths
Mishra, Eminent One is the face commander and rewards attacking with an army of copied artifacts. Ashnod the Uncaring is the second option and instead copies the activated and triggered abilities of your artifacts, enabling a different, combo-oriented playstyle with the same card pool.

For what type of Commander player?
Mishra's Burnished Banner suits players who enjoy building on multiple small actions per turn rather than one big move. An artifact bites the dust, you draw a card, a copy appears: the deck requires more attention to sequence and timing than a standard artifact deck, and rewards that with many ways to use the same card multiple times.
