Your Zombies don't have to stay dead for long — and sometimes they become even more valuable when they die. Undead Unleashed is a blue-black Commander Deck centered around Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver, Zombie tribal, sacrifice, death triggers, and a growing army of decayed Zombies.

This ready-to-play Commander Deck from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt constantly builds up new Zombies while existing creatures are sacrificed, die, and generate value anew. Wilhelt turns almost every non-decayed Zombie you lose into a new 2/2 Zombie with decayed, and can convert a Zombie into an extra card at the end of your turn.

Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver

Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver is a blue-black Zombie Warrior and the engine of Undead Unleashed. He ensures that many of your Zombies leave behind an extra body when they die.

The new token gets decayed. A creature with decayed cannot block and is sacrificed at the end of combat if it has attacked. That sounds like a downside, but in this deck, it can actually become part of your engine: Zombies are allowed to die as long as you generate enough cards, tokens, and death triggers in the process.

An army that keeps coming back

Undead Unleashed contains a large number of Zombie lords and Zombie payoff cards. Death Baron, Cemetery Reaper, Diregraf Captain, Lord of the Accursed, and Gleaming Overseer support your creature base, while cards like Diregraf Colossus and Endless Ranks of the Dead can keep producing new Zombies.

As a result, the deck can go wide, but also uses that battlefield as a resource. Fleshbag Marauder, Spark Reaper, Ravenous Rotbelly, and Wilhelt himself give you ways to let creatures die when it works to your advantage.

Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth

Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth offers another way to turn dying creatures into card advantage. Whenever another creature you control dies, you investigate and create a Clue. Whenever you then sacrifice a token, you may surveil 1.

Because of this, Eloise fits perfectly into the deck's sacrifice plan. Your creatures provide Clues when they die, and sacrificing tokens subsequently helps to further shape your next draws and graveyard.

Zombie cards that take over the battlefield

Undead Unleashed contains several classic Zombie payoffs. Rooftop Storm can replace the mana cost of your Zombie creature spells with zero, while Zombie Apocalypse can return a large amount of Zombies from your graveyard to the battlefield.

Cards like Army of the Damned, Open the Graves, Gravespawn Sovereign, Stitcher Geralf, and Gisa and Geralf also fit the central plan: ensure you keep producing more Zombies than your opponents can clear away.
