Amonkhet: Booster Box

Endure the Trials of the Five Gods and discover what Nicol Bolas really has planned for Amonkhet. The Amonkhet Booster Box contains 36 boosters from one of Magic's most recognizable worlds, inspired by ancient Egypt and built around Gods, mummies, monuments and deadly trials.

Every booster contains 15 Magic cards and can be used for Booster Draft, Sealed, or simply to open and collect Amonkhet. In addition to mechanics such as Embalm, Exert, Aftermath and Cycling, Amonkhet also offers the small chance to open an extremely rare Amonkhet Invocation from the Masterpiece Series.

Welcome to the world of Amonkhet

Amonkhet is a desert world in which the population lives under the five Gods and the mysterious God-Pharaoh Nicol Bolas. Initiates train their whole lives to endure the five trials and thus be found worthy of a glorious afterlife.

Behind the golden monuments and carefully organized society, however, lurks a much darker plan. That contrast between perfection and death is woven throughout the entire set: creatures return as mummies, warriors exert themselves to push their limits, and the graveyard becomes an active resource.

Embalm, Exert, Aftermath & Cycling

Amonkhet has a striking mix of mechanics that translate the world and its trials directly into gameplay.

• Embalm lets certain creature cards return from your graveyard as white Zombie token copies.
• Exert lets creatures exert extra effort when attacking for a more powerful effect, in exchange for skipping their next normal untap.
• Aftermath uses split cards where one part is played from your hand and the other part from your graveyard.
• Cycling lets you exchange a card from your hand for a new card and supports various discard and graveyard synergies.

Additionally, the set plays heavily with -1/-1 counters, Gods, Zombies, Trials and Cartouches. This gives Amonkhet a Limited environment that has a distinct identity in both mechanics and aesthetics.

Amonkhet Invocations

The full Amonkhet Invocations series consists of 54 cards: the first 30 appear in Amonkhet boosters and the remaining 24 in Hour of Devastation. Wizards itself describes Invocations explicitly as extremely rare.

An Invocation opened from a booster during a Draft or Sealed event is also simply part of that Limited card pool.

Full-art lands

The basic lands also contribute strongly to the look of the set. In addition to the regular basic lands, Amonkhet contains special full-art basic lands in which the imposing horns of Nicol Bolas are always visible on the horizon.

This means that even the land slots in the boosters have a distinct Amonkhet identity, and these basics are still recognizable to players familiar with the 2017 set.

Made for Booster Draft

With 36 boosters, one Amonkhet Booster Box is suitable for a full Booster Draft. A classic Draft uses three boosters per player.

With eight players, you use 24 boosters and have twelve boosters left over. You can also give up to twelve players three boosters each with one box, or use the boosters for several smaller Draft and Sealed sessions.

What's in an Amonkhet Booster?

A booster may also contain a traditional foil. There is also a very small chance of one of the 30 Amonkhet Invocations included in boosters for this set. Specific cards or special card versions are naturally not guaranteed.
