Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Commander Deck: Draconic Rage

Vrondiss only needs to be hit once for the dragons to appear. Draconic Rage is a red-green Commander Deck centered around Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients, Dragon Spirits, dice rolls, and large Dragons that quickly set the battlefield ablaze.

This ready-to-play Commander Deck from Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms combines classic Gruul power with a unique damage engine. Vrondiss creates 5/4 Dragon Spirit tokens when he takes damage, while various cards in the deck can intentionally damage him or utilize dice rolls to re-trigger his Enrage ability.

Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients

Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients is a 5/4 Dragon Barbarian in red and green. His abilities connect two key themes of the deck: dice rolling and the creation of temporary but powerful Dragon Spirit tokens.

Cards that let Vrondiss take controlled damage can leverage his Enrage trigger to build extra pressure. For example, Rile can deal 1 damage to a creature, while Barbarian Class supports the dice theme. Furthermore, the deck includes several large Dragons and ways to generate enough mana to actually cast them.

Dragon Spirits from every hit

Vrondiss rewards you for something usually undesirable: taking damage. Every time he takes damage, his Enrage ability can create a 5/4 Dragon Spirit. These tokens are meant for aggressive use: once such a Dragon Spirit deals damage itself, you must sacrifice it.

The deck combines this engine with cards like Warstorm Surge, Gratuitous Violence, and Garruk's Uprising, while Dragons such as Scourge of Valkas, Atarka, World Render, Terror of Mount Velus, and Thunderbreak Regent give the deck a clear Dragon backbone.

Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient

Besides Vrondiss, the deck includes Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient, a legendary Dragon with flying and haste. Whenever Klauth attacks, you get mana equal to the total power of your attacking creatures. You can then use that mana to cast spells.

In doing so, Klauth supports the other side of Draconic Rage: converting big combat turns into even more resources. Cards like Savage Ventmaw, Dragonlord's Servant, Dragonspeaker Shaman, and Dragon's Hoard also help to support the relatively high mana costs of the Dragon package.
