Some evidence disappears into an archive. Other evidence refuses to stay dead. The Revenant Recon Commander Deck explores the darker side of Ravnica with Surveil, graveyard setup, and reanimation — led by vampire detective Mirko, Obsessive Theorist.
Each time you surveil, Mirko gets a +1/+1 counter. This not only makes your commander grow larger, but also makes his reanimation ability increasingly powerful. At the end of your turn, you may return a creature from your graveyard to the battlefield if its power is less than Mirko's. The deeper the investigation goes, the larger the witnesses that can be brought back from the dead.

Why choose Revenant Recon?
- Surveil does two things at once: Filter the top of your library and send exactly the creatures you want to retrieve to your graveyard.
- Every Surveil makes Mirko bigger: He gets a +1/+1 counter every time, making him increasingly dangerous and allowing him to reanimate larger creatures.
- Reanimation built into the commander: At the beginning of your end step, Mirko can return a creature card with power less than his own power from your graveyard.
- Serious reanimation targets: Grave Titan, Massacre Wurm, Overseer of the Damned, Dream Eater, and Sphinx of the Second Sun give you plenty of reasons to fill the graveyard quickly.
- Classic graveyard spells: Reanimate, Animate Dead, Necromancy, and even Rise of the Dark Realms ensure Mirko isn't the only way to bring back the dead.
- Dimir control remains present: Removal, card selection, and creatures with strong enters-the-battlefield abilities give the deck plenty of options even when Mirko is temporarily gone.

Mirko is a 1/3 with flying and vigilance. Each time you surveil, he gets a +1/+1 counter. At the beginning of your end step, you may then return a creature card with power less than Mirko's power from your graveyard with a finality counter on it.
Marvo, Deep Operative
Featured Commander · Blue / Black · Octopus Rogue
When Marvo attacks, you clash with the defending player. Each time you win a clash, you draw a card and may then cast a spell with mana value 8 or less from your hand without paying its mana cost. A completely different commander that rewards the higher mana values in the deck in a surprising way.
What does Surveil mean?
With surveil N, you look at the top N cards of your library. You may put any number of them into your graveyard and put the rest on top of your library in any order. This improves your future draws while simultaneously preparing your graveyard.
