The best offense? According to the Abzan, it’s a wall that suddenly decides to strike back. The Abzan Armor Commander Deck turns creatures with massive toughness and even Defender into unexpectedly dangerous attackers, led by Felothar the Steadfast.
Felothar turns the normal rules of combat almost literally on their head. Your creatures deal combat damage based on their toughness instead of their power, and creatures with defender are free to attack. A 0/5 Wall is therefore suddenly no longer a passive defense, but a creature that can strike for 5.

Why choose Abzan Armor?
- Toughness becomes attack power: Felothar lets all your creatures deal combat damage based on toughness instead of power.

Felothar is a 0/5 himself and lets every creature you control deal combat damage based on its toughness. Furthermore, your creatures can attack as though they didn't have defender. For {3}, you can tap Felothar and sacrifice another creature to draw cards equal to its toughness, then discard cards equal to its power.
Betor, Ancestor's Voice

Betor is a 3/5 with flying and lifelink. During your end step, he can place +1/+1 counters on another creature equal to the amount of life you gained that turn. Additionally, he can bring back a creature from your graveyard with a mana value up to the amount of life you lost that turn.
Why toughness becomes so strong
Creatures with Defender are usually designed with high toughness and low power because they aren't allowed to attack. Felothar removes exactly that disadvantage and then uses their highest stat for combat damage. As a result, a creature like Indomitable Ancients goes from a 2/10 to an attacker that can effectively deal 10 combat damage.
Playstyle:
Abzan Armor builds a difficult-to-breach battlefield first, then turns that same defense into an offense. Ideal for players who enjoy building up, accumulating card advantage, and subsequently attacking with creatures that didn't seem designed for aggression at all.
